The artist
Made by Ayat in Al Khalil
In a small workshop in the hilly city of Al Khalil (Hebron), four artists work side by side. Potters shape the clay and a carpenter makes the wooden frames. At the centre is Ayat, who paints every piece with brushes her father made by hand. She began at 13 under his guidance and now trains the next generation of young women. Her family has made ceramics since 1965.
Handmade: What to expect & care
Every piece is one of a kind. Each is shaped and painted by hand, so colours, lines and size vary a little from the photos. Small marks, such as a brush stroke, a tiny pinhole or a soft run of glaze, are signs of handwork and traditional craft.
Care: wash by hand in warm, soapy water. Our ceramics products are suitable for the dishwasher or microwave, but we recommend handwashing. Avoid sudden changes in temperature.
Wooden tile trays: wipe clean and don't soak.
