At just 24, Razan dreamed of becoming one of Gaza’s fastest athletes. Raised in Al-Daraj by a father who nurtured her love of running from childhood, she dedicated herself to training at Yarmouk Stadium, Gaza, believing every stride brought her closer to her dream.
Inspired by Olympic champion Lamont Marcell Jacobs, Razan dreamed of one day representing Palestine on the world stage. To Razan, running was hope, freedom, and a vision of a brighter future.

The night of 19 November 2023 is a date Razan will never forget.
Like countless families across Gaza, Razan and her loved ones were simply trying to survive the horrors of war. Then, in a single night, everything changed.
A missile struck their home as they slept. Razan awoke amidst explosions, screams and devastation, unable to stand or walk. Her 12km journey to hospital took four and a half hours
Despite the doctors’ efforts, her injuries were too severe. Her leg could not be saved.
In one night, a young woman whose life had always revolved around running was forced to confront an unimaginable reality: the dream she had pursued since childhood suddenly seemed impossible.
